This page covers NO2, the southwest Norway price zone, since that's specifically where North Sea Link - Norway's only direct interconnector to Great Britain - comes ashore. About the Norway grid
Statnett operates Norway's transmission grid. Unlike almost every other major grid, Norway generates roughly 90% of its electricity from hydropower, drawn from thousands of reservoirs built up over the 20th century - some large enough to store several months' worth of the country's total electricity needs. That storage capacity means Norwegian hydro can ramp output up and down far faster and more cheaply than almost any other generation source, making Norway a natural balancer for the more variable wind and solar output of its neighbours.
Norway is split into five price zones (NO1 to NO5); this page covers NO2, in the southwest, because that's where North Sea Link comes ashore. Opened in 2021 and running roughly 720km under the North Sea, NSL is Norway's only direct electrical link to Great Britain and, at the time it opened, the longest subsea power interconnector in the world - power typically flows from Norway to GB when British prices are high and reservoirs are full, and the other way when the wind is blowing hard across Britain and Norwegian reservoir levels need conserving.

The Elexon Insights Solution, NESO Data Portal and Carbon Intensity API that power the Great Britain pages are GB-specific and don't cover Norway (NO2), so this page draws on a different source instead:
- ENTSO-E Transparency Platform - the pan-European grid data hub, required by EU regulation for every connected TSO (RTE included) to publish to. Powers demand, generation, day-ahead price, the generation mix, the 24-hour mix chart and the History section above, all via Norway (NO2)'s own bidding zone. Requires the site operator's own free API token, obtained through a short registration process - shows "not enough recorded history yet" rather than a placeholder figure if one isn't set or ingestion hasn't run yet.
Two figures aren't shown on this page at all: ENTSO-E doesn't publish emissions intensity, and its generation-per-type data doesn't include cross-border physical flow per interconnector (North Sea Link), so rather than show a permanently illustrative placeholder for either, they're left out until a real source exists.
